The smooth structure set of S p × S
We calculate S (S × S), the smooth structure set of S × S, for p, q ≥ 2 and p + q ≥ 5. As a consequence we show that in general S (S4j−1 × S4k) cannot admit a group structure such that the smooth surgery exact sequence is a long exact sequence of groups. We also show that the image of forgetful map S (S4j ×S4k) → STop(S4j × S4k) is not in general a subgroup of the topological structure set.
متن کاملApproximation by $(p,q)$-Lupac{s} Stancu Operators
In this paper, $(p,q)$-Lupas Bernstein Stancu operators are constructed. Statistical as well as other approximation properties of $(p,q)$-Lupac{s} Stancu operators are studied. Rate of statistical convergence by means of modulus of continuity and Lipschitz type maximal functions has been investigated.

متن کاملThe (Q,S,s) Pricing Rule∗
We introduce menu costs in the search-theoretic model of imperfect competition of Burdett and Judd (1983). When menu costs are not too large, the equilibrium is such that sellers follow a (Q,S,s) pricing rule. According to the rule, a seller lets inflation erode the real value of its nominal price until it reaches some point s. Then, the seller pays the menu cost and resets the real value of it...
متن کاملSPHINGOMYELIN METABOLITES A S SECOND MESSENGERS IN AIRWAY SMOOTH MUSCL E CELL P ROLIFERATION
Sphingolipid metabolism was examined in guinea-pig airway smooth muscle cells stimulated by platelet-derived growth factor (PDGF) and 4β-phorbol 12- myristate 13-acetate (PMA), as mitogens and bradykinin (BK) as non-mitogen. Stimulation of the cells by PMA and PDGF for 60 min. at 37°C induced the following changes in sphingolipid metabolites: in cells prelabeled with PH] palmitate, a 1.2 f...
